Here in Las Vegas the weather really seems to drop around this time of year. This is when people start to turn up their heaters and prepare for winter. Recently a few of my first time homebuyer clients brought up some good questions about preparing their new homes for the cold weather.
As a homeowner myself, I always tell everyone about the importance of pipe insulation during the colder months. Taking a moment out of your day to insulate outdoor water pipes can save you from the pricey damage of these freezing temperatures.
This weekend my family and I took a trip to Lowe’s in Centennial Hills to pick up a few important supplies. All for under 20 dollars, we were able to pick up a couple of styrofoam faucet covers as well as some tubular pipe insulation for our home. This is an easy way to prevent pipes from freezing and bursting. All of these items can usually be found in the plumbing section of your local hardware store.
